It’s Wednesday, let’s blade. (Toronto)
Wednesday Night Session at CJ’s Skatepark tonight around 7pm. If you live in the GTA, please try to come out. Last week we had around 20 rollerbladers show up. CJ’s is located at 60 Horner Avenue in Etobicoke. Which is pretty easy to get to using TTC or GO Transit. Just check google maps. See you there!

Shop-Task Public announcment

We are very excited to announce the opening of the 3rd Shop-Task retail location. The new store will be located in Montreal at the new Southparc Skatepark which is expected to open on January 20 2012.
Guillaume Roy, the previous owner of Lylac skate shop, will be in charge of our new location. Guillaume has been the owner and operator of the only aggressive Skate shop in his area for the past four years. His commitment and dedication to rollerblading helped build one of the strongest aggressive scenes in the world. Montreal rollerbladers have been very fortunate to have Guillaume and Lylac skate shop, to support and promote them, and make a difference in their scene.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to continue what Lylac skate shop has started and we are very proud to welcome Guillaume Roy to our family.
Shop-Task is now officially unstoppable.

Erik Burrow reflecting on his Skating Year – Be-Mag
Hi, my name is Erik Burrow and I am a 23 year old Canadian roller from Toronto. The following photographs are a documentation of an amazing year in skating. I have been extremely busy juggling college life, my girlfriend, and a job at Shop-Task. Somewhere in the mix I’ve found a way to make it all work.

Rollerblading and Space – an essay by Erik Burrow
Aggressive Rollerblading – Artistic Expression or Urban Anarchy?
What do you see when you walk the city streets? For most the answer is simple, the city is nothing more than an urban sprawl. It is a means to an end, an area where business and commerce take place. It is a world created for adults by adults and the structures that exist within it although often aesthetically pleasing offer the average citizen nothing more than a sense experience. To many the city is simply a collection of concrete, metal and glass.
Cities are created with a purpose. Stairs exist in order to be walked on and handrails are put in place to ensure safety when traversing the urban landscape. To the urban planner safety is of the utmost importance as it only takes one injury on private property for a lawsuit of epic proportions to take place. For this reason it is understood that the city is not an urban playground, or is it?
